Every iPhone videographer eventually hits the ProRes storage wall, so I went straight to ZikeTech's actual Z791A/Z791C listing — including its 60 verified reviews — to see whether this magnetic storage add-on holds up for real 4K work.
The Z791A/Z791C is ZikeTech's USB-C magnetic extended storage for the iPhone 17/16/15 series, rated 4.92 out of 5 across 60 reviews. It ships in two models — the base Z791A and the upgraded Z791C with a cooling fan and LCD display — across four capacities: 128GB ($70), 512GB ($100), 1TB ($170), and 2TB, all currently discounted from their regular prices.
The core pitch is real-time ProRes video offload — when shooting 4K/120fps ProRes on an iPhone 16/15 Pro/Max, the drive automatically stores footage so it never eats into the phone's own memory. ZikeTech states the storage is built on Samsung TF card / SSD components with USB 3.2 Gen2 supporting read speeds up to 990MB/s and write speeds up to 960MB/s.
Two strong magnets and an anti-slip base let the drive attach securely to the back of iPhone 12-16 models, allowing free movement while filming without cables getting in the way. The upgraded Z791C model adds a built-in LCD display (96×160 resolution) showing real-time capacity, transfer speed, power status, and temperature.
At just 24g (0.053 lbs) and roughly 59mm × 20mm × 9mm, the drive is genuinely pocket-sized. ZikeTech frames the 2TB version's capacity in practical terms: roughly 170 minutes of 4K/60fps video, 200,000 songs, 200 4K movies, or 400,000 JPG photos.
Beyond iPhone, the drive works as a standard external SSD with MacBook, iPad, PlayStation, and Android devices via its USB-C interface (USB 3.2 Gen2 on one end, USB-C with PD3.0 27W charge-through on the other). No app or driver install is required — it's plug-and-play on any supported device.
Reviewers consistently mention zero lag with 4K slow-motion recording, fast and stable file transfers to MacBook, and genuine plug-and-play simplicity with no setup required. Several international reviewers (Italian, Spanish, German) independently confirmed reliable ProRes recording performance across both iPhone and Android devices.
What stands out:
Worth knowing:
The listing currently shows all capacities discounted from their regular prices (e.g., 1TB at $170 vs. $200, 512GB at $100 vs. $125, 128GB at $70 vs. $100). Check our ZikeTech coupon page for any additional verified codes and deals.
For iPhone videographers who actually shoot 4K/120fps ProRes and keep running out of space, the Z791A/Z791C's combination of real USB 3.2 Gen2 speeds, magnetic convenience, and a 4.92-star track record across 60 reviews makes it a legitimately useful accessory rather than just another storage gimmick.
